Job title: Cloud Engineer

Location: Leeds – Hybrid working available (3 days in office, 2 days from home)

Salary: £55,000-£65,000

The Company

My client design, develop and support bespoke web and mobile applications via cloud computing which allows them to modernise and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation. My client has won multi-year, multi-million security research projects from DARPA. At DEF CON and are now seeking an experienced Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud engineer with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud.

The Role

You will define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance. You will also provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies. You will be held responsible for ensuring application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design.

The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and the ability to customise them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, experience managing staff, and advanced industry knowledge are key to keeping my client on the cutting edge.
Essential Skills:

• Experienced in developing and implementing technical efforts to design, build, and deploy AWS applications at the direction of lead architects
• Proven experience in participating in all aspects of the software development life cycle for AWS solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
• Experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms
• Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected frameworks
• Proven experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer or similar role
• Knowledge of JavaScript and NodeJS and frameworks/systems (e.g. Git, NPM)

Preferred qualifications:

• AWS certifications are a plus
• Kubernetes experience or certifications are a plus
• Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and GraphQL
